Hi all, Good day! We at SFI would like to seek the assistance of the whole SFD community on coming up with the final artwork that we could use for the goodies to be distributed for SFD '09 and beyond. According to the initial feedback that Fred got from here (SFD-discuss mailing-list), most teams would want T-shirts, CDs/DVDs (FOSS compilations and a resource DVD), generic SFD (A2-sized) posters, balloons, stickers, and button pins/badges. Before we move on to the specifics about what Artwork we would like to have for each of those stuff, I, in behalf of SFI would like to consult with all of you first if there's a need for us to change the font that we have been using for the SFD logo since 2005. As some/most of you might be aware of, the current logo font (Libel suit) that we are using is just a free (as in beer) font and not a free (as in speech) or open font. On a side note, if I'm not mistaken, the SFD logo that we've used in the first worldwide SFD celebration back in 2004 as depicted in this archived image file<http://web.archive.org/web/20040801002506/www.softwarefreedomday.org/layout/...>, uses the Sans font from the GNU FreeFont<http://www.gnu.org/software/freefont/>collection. Back to my main query about the SFD logo font, should we decide to change the logo font (I do hope that we should), perhaps the listing from the Free Font Compilation made from the Debian GNU/Linux distribution<http://fonts.debian.net/>would provide a good kick start for this purpose. We still have until the end of the month to decide on this. We would like to get as many feedback or sample logo works as possible from all/most of you before then. Thanks! JM Software Freedom Day
