Hi! We actually mentioned this in the announcement but I should probably assume that announcement are like man pages ;-) No Ubuntu CD anymore. While Canonical is still sponsoring SFD both with cash and some part of our infrastructure they will no longer be providing CDs. It's a sad thing as that was really a great thing to be able to provide so many CDs to all teams but we've discussed a lot and there is really no way to get them anymore. I have been in discussion with some people both at Red Hat and openSUSE for the past 2 years to try to find an alternative (as we cannot afford to do it ourselves). The shipping is the biggest cost of it all and the timing as well (letting people know when they produce that they need to make 20K more for SFD). Then you need to get the release somewhat aligned with SFD. openSUSE is being released in September this year so that would have been too tight. For Fedora I can probably get a few thousands easily but we just can't afford to ship them at the moment. Another cost for Canonical was the custom duties which they would pay when people were asking as well. On the bright side we are trying to raise more funds and do more things, but it is a slow process and no an easy one. I hope I have covered the topic so everybody knows where we stand. Any suggestion that we could implement to help providing CDs again is of course welcome. Thanks. Fred On 09/04/2012 08:04 AM, Rik Tindall wrote:
