Dear all,

We are launching a new celebration as announced in August, around Open Educational 
Resources and Free Educational Software called Education Freedom Day [1] which will 
be celebrated on January 18th, 2014 (Saturday).

We, FOSS Bangladesh are waiting for this public announcement and getting prepared since the SFD 2013 goodies arrived. The SFD letter was a very nice hand bill/A4 poster about this event.

The registration just opened and follow our other events process with a wiki page 
creation [2] and then registration [3]!

We will register our team in mid December. ;)

The date has been chosen as mid school year in order to somewhat make an update on any 

project an education institution has been involved with, and look at what to deploy 
the next school year.

It's the starting time of new education year in here in Bangladesh. And in this year it's the General Election/Govt. Poll is going to be held on the 5th of January 2014.

We will try to organize this program in a famous school campus along with the international communities and try at our level best to connect as many education related people we may connect. And hope that in the next budget of the ministry of education will be some how motivated/impacted by this kind of celebration here in Bangladesh.

There are nowadays hundreds of resources which we will try to list(a few of them at 

least) in our wiki [4] which goes from specific tuition to complete solutions depending on what your focus is. Some involve software, some don't 
(except for the materials to follow). We hope that you will be able to gather as many 

educators/teachers/professors as possible and make them discover OER communities and 
the immense possibilities that goes together with them.

Our listing is almost ready and the invitation for the event will be done by post/courier/hand to hand between the first week of January 2014.

#efday @ Freenode.
