Hi! My first question would be "why do you want to be on the board? What are you trying to achieve?" The board is merely handling legal responsibilities and not necessarily the place for people who want to promote or help SFD. Reading the bylaws might give you a better idea of what the board does. Registration for SFD 2011 was discussed at the last marketing meeting and will open end of May. Ubuntu 11.04 release has nothing to do with SFD (nor does OpenSUSE 11.4 or Fedora 15). SFD is not the promotion arm of any GNU/Linux distribution; its aims is to engage with the world and explain what Software Freedom is and why it is important. Showing off various Free Software such as GNU/Linux is a side effect of the celebration. I hope I have clarified the misunderstanding and than you better understand what SFD does, why and how.
