Gmane is like a gui front end to the mailing list, if I understood correctly. You can read more here: http://everything.explained.at/Gmane/ We discussed the quietness of our mailing list in the past, and the tech oriented mailing list, versus apparently more opened forum discussion medium. We will still have a forum based discussion medium one day, once I get the time to integrate something with moinmoin. Fred On 08/18/2011 01:41 AM, Rodrigo Rodriguez wrote:
Hi,
Just for curiosity, what's the difference between Gmane and Mailman (most common mail list software)?

Well, we've already had this discussion in the past, but still, is there a good reason /not/ to use http://gmane.org/?
Actually, making a mailing list appear at Gmane is thoroughly simple. There's no (I believe) negative side effects on the infrastructure, and it requires very little assistance from the list's administrators…
… Except for one thing: it'd be nice to have the /verbatim/ mailing list archives uploaded to Gmane. And these archives are only available to the administrators.
So, is there a chance it could be done?
