I would stay clear from Riot.im probably. There are other Matrix clients, and also other service providers besides matrix.org. I'm not a Matrix user, but as far as I have researched, Riot.im requires non-free software. Although one has it available in F-Droid, it's not free/libre software for most people, so Riot.im free/libre software supporters would probably have to do double work: - Advertise for Matrix. - If advertising for Riot.im, make sure that people are getting the free/libre version. Because the standard one is nonfree. - Also, the web version of Riot.im is also nonfree for the web site visitor/client/guest. For more information, see: <https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Talk:Riot-im>. Personally, and as my signature shows: I'm first/mainly in favor of supporting GNU Ring... and using Tox only as fall-back. For *scheduled* group chats, I still prefer IRC though. Respectfully, Adonay. -- - https://libreplanet.org/wiki/User:Adfeno - Palestrante e consultor sobre /software/ livre (não confundir com gratis). - "WhatsApp"? Ele não é livre.
