As we are going through initial planning and in particular new ideas and brainstorming for 2008, I thought it would be great to invite responses from you guys, the Software Freedom Day community :) What would you like to see different in 2008? How could we better help you organise awesome events? How can we help you with marketing and such?
World Software Freedom Day! Adding World to our regular SFD term would automatically suggest that it is being celebrated worldwide like World Environment Day or something like that. This would make us easier in explaining to our potential local partners/supporters/sponsors that the event is taking place globally, which would in turn, attract more supporters and of course, the media support. Perhaps it could attract the support of UN agencies as well, which the SFI is looking for for the upcoming SFD. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. This especially held true for us when we approached the apex government body for IT in Nepal, HLCIT [1] to partner with us during the last SFD. Even in their annual newsletter [2], they've mentioned it as World Software Freedom Day. The actual newsletter can be found here [3].
