Fred,

As the content is not sensitive, I agree you don't need an SSL but it is good practice to have one. If passwords are being sent, that is sufficient to be classed as sensitive so I suggest that you consider encryption; with free Lets Encrypt certs, there is no reason not to. Let me know if you would like a free Lets Encrypt creating and setting up on your server.

At OpenUK, we are encouraging a network of Free & Open software leaders from the education sectors. I will find out if anyone has a view regarding appropriate dates for UK educators.

All the best,

Stuart.

Hi!

Any private information sent over www.softwarefreedomay.org? No, so I am
not sure why you would need an SSL certificate. The wiki has a password
identification though and we're planning to have one, just hasn't been
done yet.

Now to the other topic, it's about finding a date that would work for
"everyone" for EFD. We used to have it in March around Education Week
but at this stage we already have DFD in March and HFD in April. So what
are our options now? What would work for people in the education sector?

Thanks to let us know.

Fred

Hi,

I was visiting http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/ (what, no SSL?) and I
got startled by the date mentioning Education Freedom Day. It's stated
on the site that it would be on 17 March. However, that's a friday. It
should be 18 March. ;)

Greetings, Rutger
