Re: [Dillo-dev]0.8.3rc1 test
Hi, see the http://fr.wikipedia.org web page for exemple. Best regards, Florent ---------- Initial Header ----------- From : dillo-dev-admin@lists.auriga.wearlab.de To : dillo-dev@auriga.wearlab.de Cc : Date : Fri, 1 Oct 2004 20:03:46 -0400 Subject : Re: [Dillo-dev]0.8.3rc1 test
What's bad about that code? HTML 4 is, in the absence of headers or meta tags indicating otherwise, assumed to be ISO-8859-1. The é is perfectly legal there.
If you give Dillo an ISO-8859-1 'é', it will work fine.
Now, if you give it in some other encoding, it will fail.
Given that they show up correctly when I look at that
site here, I
suspect it's a font problem on the display, not an HTML or Dillo problem.
Yes, it could be. BTW, if the source page has an ISO-8859-1 'é' this is surely the problem.
Sorry, I should have said: "if the source page has a NON ISO-8859-1 'é', this is surely the problem" -- Cheers Jorge.- _______________________________________________ Dillo-dev mailing list Dillo-dev@lists.auriga.wearlab.de http://lists.auriga.wearlab.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dillo-dev ************************ ADSL ILLIMITE TISCALI + TELEPHONE GRATUIT ************************ Surfez 40 fois plus vite pour 30EUR/mois seulement ! This page is encoded in UTF-8. See http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/unicode.html for more on UTF-8. It would certainly be nice if Dillo accepted UTF-8 encoding of ISO-8859-1, but at present this is not the case. All the best, -- Matthias Franz Section de Mathématiques, Université de Genève, Suisse

Matthias is right. Our idea is to switch Dillo to FLTK and then to handle strings in UTF8, the other encodings can be converted to it. FLTK is not as far as it seems. After dillo-0.8.3 is released, Sebastian will merge the new Dw abstraction layer. We also have a testbed to test Dw over another widget set (in this case FLTK). Once the Dw testbed works over FLTK, the next step is to do the same with the Dw inside Dillo, and finally to port Dillo's GUI to FLTK (a simple task because our GUI is no rocket science). Manpower is highly appreciated. -- Cheers Jorge.-
I would consider trying to do a gtk2 port, or is this discouraged ? The reason is that gtk2 seem's to be the most used toolkit these days, also it's available using cairo for rendering :-) .. ( hardware acceleration, glitz ). I have to give it a good thinkover berore I commit to it though. / Lars Segerlund. On Wed, 6 Oct 2004 13:32:32 -0400 Jorge Arellano Cid <jcid@dillo.org> wrote:
