dillo-0.7.3.tar.bz2
Hi there! Yesterday I posted an email about 0.7.3 but forgot to mention the most important part: the URL! :-) There's a tarball of 0.7.3 at: http://www.dillo.org/download/dillo-0.7.3.tar.bz2 The plan was to test it yesterday (it already passed my tests and Seb's too) and to announce it on Wednesday while letting our packagers some time to update them for announce time. So there it is, and will be announced on Thursday. Please get it and give it some hard testing. Kelson, Phil, Oliver: please make update your packages with it. Sorry for the mistake. Cheers Jorge.- Frank: after I upload 0.8.0-pre I'll have some time to look in your work. Now that 0.7.3 release is almost done, I guess Sebastian will have some time too (we were working on a plan for CSS, and then Sebastian had to make a detailed review of the incremental resizing mechanism because of some discovered bugs. I was working on 0.8.0-pre (plugins) and on the release). All this explanation is to state that it is not lack of interest, but lack of manpower. You'd be amazed to know all of the things I'm working in parallel. PS: the above note applies to all of you waiting for an answer from my side...

I got a couple built on my lunch hour. I've already got plans for tonight, but once I get home I'll get as many done as I can. I've been starting to use User-Mode Linux ( http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/ ), which basically lets me run a second copy of Linux in a virtual machine. This will save me a lot of rebooting, and eventually I'll be able to build packages for more than one distribution simultaneously! Kelson Vibber www.hyperborea.org

OK, packages are ready for: Red Hat 6.2, 7.3, 8, 9 Mandrake 8.2, 9.1, and 9.1 PPC SuSE 8.2 I'm moving the RPM download page to http://www.hyperborea.org/software/dillo/ (just replace the .html with a /). There's a server redirect in place, but it wouldn't hurt to update the link. I've updated a separate copy of the page, so all I have to do is switch it in when the release is ready. If anyone wants to check out the rpms early, go to http://www.hyperborea.org/software/dillo/index-new.shtml -- Kelson Vibber www.hyperborea.org

No, not in _most_ cases, and this is one. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org

Interesting. I guess it's a different philosophy of when to break binary compatibility. I've been using Red Hat for years, and they generally only jump major library versions with the x.0 releases. The Dillo package built on RH 7.3, for instance, will also run on RH 7.2 and RH 7.1. (At least the 0.7.2 one does - I'll have to verify the new one.) I've generally figured on just aiming for the most recent point release - Red Hat 6.2, 7.3, etc., Mandrake 8.2, 9.1, and so on. Does the .src.rpm work? (Running "rpm --rebuild dillo-0.7.3-1.src.rpm" should build a valid i386 or i586 RPM.) If so, the easiest thing would be to just email me a copy of the resulting RPM (assuming it's 200-300 KB) and I'll post it. In the long run, I guess I'll have to install a SuSE 8.1 partition. Out of curiosity, what errors does it report when you try to run the 8.2 RPM on 8.1? Kelson Vibber www.hyperborea.org

Some updated patches are avaible here: http://zone.ee/myzz/dillo/0.7.3/dillo-0.7.3-mzz.html The HTTPS stuff will go on top of dpi, when the dpi has enough functionality for it (i'm hoping a bit for the new dpid stuff). Possibly i'll try to hack something together in next month. PS. I'll create separate cache-control patch for current cvs, when there is a interest about merging it with the CVS (not before, because it would be to much trouble to mantain it separately).
Madis,

I set a deadline on myself: 0.8.0-pre must be in CVS before Saturday (Aug 09, 2003). With all the delays related to 0.7.3 release, I spent some time developing a tiny https.dpi (to provide a starting point for interested people). Unfortunately there're still some things to fix (inside Dillo, not in the dpi) to make it work. Anyway, working or not, the code will be in CVS before the deadline (I feel guilty for delaying it too much).
PS. I'll create separate cache-control patch for current cvs, when there is a interest about merging it with the CVS (not before, because it would be to much trouble to mantain it separately).
OK. Cheers Jorge.-

Good! BTW, why doesn't it state i386 or i486 in the tarball name? Something like: dillo-0.7.3-i386-1.tgz Cheers Jorge.-
