[Dillo-dev]Compiling 0.8.0 Debian
Greetings Dillo People, I ran into a problem compiling Dillo from the latest tarball, and didn't want totarget anyone specifically, so I hope you don't mind me posting this here.... Been over and over the INSTALL file. I'm running 0.6.2-1, installed from the CDs with apt-get: (Debian 3.0 with kernel 2.4.19) Depends: libc6 (>= 2.2.4-2), libglib1.2 (>= 1.2.0), libgtk1.2 (>= 1.2.10-2), libjpeg62, libpng2 (>= 1.0.12), x xlibs (>> 4.1.0), zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.3)libs (>> 4.1.0), zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.3) Here's what happens when I run ./config for 0.8.0 ---------> #./configure checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for gawk... no checking for mawk... mawk checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking for gcc... gcc checking for C compiler default output... a.out checking whether the C compiler works... yes checking whether we are cross compiling... no checking for suffix of executables... checking for suffix of object files... o checking whether we are using the GNU C compiler... yes checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes checking for gcc option to accept ANSI C... none needed checking for style of include used by make... Dillo NEEDS glib endquote There's no glib/GLIB in any /bin on my box, and no file called glib-config. Would that be a file that would only exist if I had compiled libglib myself? The latest .deb is nowhere near what's available in the tarball and I want the latest. Nice browser, even as is. I dumped Skipstone for it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Tom

My guess: apt-get install libglib1.2-dev libgtk1.2-dev It sounds like you have the glib libraries, but not the development files on your box. You'll need the gtk devel files also, and between the two of them they should pull in anything else required. Kelson Vibber www.hyperborea.org

you need some dev packages also, so do apt-get install libgtk1.2-dev libpng12-dev libjpeg62-dev
