[Dillo-dev]Preparing the dillo-0.8.5 release.
Hi there! A long time since the last post right? Well, don't worry, as always, a silent dillo-dev list means lots of stuff going on behind the scenes! I'm preparing the dillo-0.8.5 tarball now. This will hopefully be the last GTK1-based dillo to be released, as the next one will be FLTK2-based. The plan is to show a strong protoype in Dijon at the LSM 2005, and have it shortly thereafter ready for public consumption (after a play/test/fix/stabilize cycle on dillo-dev). Back to dillo-0.8.5: this release is mainly a bug-fix release. The final touches were just uploaded to current CVS. Please download it, test, and report back to the list on how it works. This will help me to make the tarball and release it ASAP. As currently I'm working on three source trees, getting rid of this one will certainly relieve my workload. The second tree is a rewrite of the plugin stuff under a cleaner design that's to be included in the FLTK2-tree. -- Cheers Jorge.-

Will FLTK2.0 be officially released by then? I'm asking because I can only update dillo to FLTK-dillo when we have a FLTK2 port in the FreeBSD ports tree. (I just looked and we don't even seem have FLTK 1.2 in there, only 1.1.6. Hm. Looks like work.)

I managed to fetch a few minor updates around 0700 UTC -- the CVS server seems to have died after that. Could someone investigate? What I got calls itself 0.8.5-pre and works as well as 0.8.4 on both FreeBSD 4 and 5 (i386).

AFAIK FLTK2.0 doesn't have a projected release date yet.

FLTK2 is much cleaner, and multiplatform, so it should'n be that hard to port. BTW, can't you have a statically linked FLTK2-based dillo in FreeBSD?

At least for me CVS is working now, as of this writting.

Yes, that's the one. I'm just to change 0.8.5-pre to 0.8.5 and update the splash screen brief before packing the tarball for the final test before public release. -- Cheers Jorge.-

This would work, I'll see what I can do. I'm doing a similar dance with Felix von Leitner's libowfat/gatling projects at the moment regarding library dependencies. I'll coordinate efforts with the current maintainer of FLTK 1.1.6.

Seems to have been a transient problem at wearlab.de; my mail took some time to be delivered to the list, too.

Ok, I just checked and I indeed got all changes. Looks OK for me. Regards, -- Thomas-Martin Seck

(I just looked and we don't even seem have FLTK 1.2 in there, only 1.1.6. Hm. Looks like work.) I am working on a port, but don't know how to implement svn in fetch (I know there is do-fetch). I just need to test few things. The main problem is the error while compiling it with system compiler (gcc-4.1 works just fine). I think I will finish it in about a month (I'm really busy right now), and I don't think fltk-dillo will be released soon (I hope I'm wrong :o).

No need to do this; just fetch the latest snapshot and update the port once in a while regarding the snapshot revision. Since the snapshots seem to be kept for about 3 months you do not need to worry too much about the port becoming unfetchable.

Nice to hear! You should submit gcc related problems to the FLTK folks, though. FreeBSD will use gcc 3.4 on 5.x and 6.x for quite a while and I guess the other BSDs will follow suit.

I'm looking forward to it! Regards, -- Thomas-Martin Seck

Thursday's CVS seems to work fine here (Fedora Core 3 x86), and RPM didn't need any major changes. -- Kelson Vibber www.hyperborea.org
