Oh, but one little thing, it would be nice to be able to middle-click on the browser to load a URL, but I'll wait for that, hell I didn't even look for a TODO.
Currently, button 2 is bound to dragging, which some people find quite useful. Personally, I'm nearly satisfied with "Clear URL" button, pasting into the entry, and pressing enter. Perhaps these three actions could be shortcut to pressing button 2 in the "Clear URL" button (of course, the tooltip should then make this clear).
(BTW, I was not aware of this feature in Netscape, until there was a similar thread on this list, some time ago :-)
It's a bit of a misfeature, if you ask me. In Mozilla (as in Dillo), I often middle-click to open links in a new window or tab. If I miss the link by a pixel or two, suddenly the current Mozilla window is trying to load whatever happened to be in the clipboard.
It is a standard feature that I would bet dollars to doughnuts millions of people use with Mozilla, Galeon, Skipstone, etc. etc. etc. Since "open link in new window/tab" can be easily configured according to the users prefs (alt-middle-click, or even just "always open link in new browser/tab" which is my personal fav), the"middle click loads URL in clipboard" should be the standard. As far as the "middle click to drag", only people without a wheelmouse would miss that, and in my opinion, dragging some web pages is, well, a drag. For a page like Slashdot, that's a lot of "drag, pick up mouse, drag, pick up mouse, ..." One question linking this issue to the coding of apps in general, where "bloat" is an issue, does offering a greater variety of config options contribute to said "bloat"? If not, then all of this could be settled by building in options for the user to choose themselves, whether at build time or in the prefs dialogue. Of course all of this is "IMHO" ;)
A great replacement feature (IMO) would be to replicate Mozilla's behavior only when the user middle-clicks directly on the location bar. It's intuitive, and it shouldn't get in the way of Dillo's nifty middle-button-drag panning.
On second thought, that would certainly cause confusion if the location bar is already focused. Nevermind.
Middle-clicking the Clear URL button would be nice.
