OK guys, I considered the posts, reviewed the code, then found and fixed a naive bug introduced by me on solving issues for LP64 processors.
It's in the CVS now.
just tried the x86/ssl version out of cvs. Now does amazon.co.uk and yahoo groups OK.
same result now for ps2 version of current cvs. NB - test results are for www.amazon.co.uk (not www.amazon.com which behaved differently/less fussily) and groups.yahoo.com (also tested www.playstation2-linux.com, where as with 0.8.3 the knack is to drop out of ssl as soon as you've logged in - dunno why this doesn't work more straightforwardly if you stay in https - hammering reload does not cure it, I now realise) 'Imprimatur' Bob -- robert w hall
