I just compiled and packages 0.8.4 for MkLinux so I will use it and testit. But it is the plain version of Gmail that is very well done: it works really smooth with netscape 4.79 and looks good. They must have used skilled designers. Under ns 4.79 I notice the use of Javascript though (looking at the status bar) so I wonder what it really does, it may be that the "plain" version still detects and adatps to the capabilities of the browser.
