Hi Vincent,
Raising some funds, and to create awareness of what the current status of the Dillo project is, looks like a good idea. It would be important to let the readers know that we seek funds to be able to quit our jobs and to dedicate full time to work on Dillo for at least a year (when hopefully we could have secured some enterprise funding to continue).
This is simply a too fast a moving target for two developers to chase working after hours.
I understand all of this, but i doubt the pledge could pay for this all by itself. BTW, how much money do you think we should be aiming for ? I thought about going with 10$ pledges but i'm not sure how many between 1000, 2500 or 5000, 1000 probably being the reasonable choice.
We're looking for interested developers to work on Dillo. This is also key to the success of the project. This is the kind of developer that not only sends patches but that contributes to the core of it.
Sometime ago I asked in this list for interested developers and got only one answer for a "patch-developer" so to speak.
Again, i'm really interested in Dillo's future, but i can't make any hard commitment to it's development...
I like FOSDEM!, was once there, and there're lots of different people attending it. From technical to management. If you can pass the above ideas (more or less deatiled in my previous posts too) with a broad target scope, it could certainly help the project, and we'd appreciate that.
Unfortunately, i'm not sure i will attend the FOSDEM. My idea was to put together the posters with a quick description of Dillo and links to the website and the pledge. I will have to take care of this next week or so and contact the FOSDEM people to check if i can put posters in some rooms or interesting spots. Cheers, Vincent
